Leading SA concert pianist Andrew Warburton joins forces with eminent husband and wife team from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Violeta and Sorin Osorhean in a trio of thrilling works from the solo and chamber repertoire. Featured at the Hilton Arts Festival in 2017, the concert contains the late set of Bagatelles Op. 126 by Beethoven for solo piano, as well as his more familiar and beloved “Spring” sonata for violin and piano. The second half consists of the exhilarating trio for piano, violin and horn Op. 40 by Brahms. This is a rarely used combination of instruments, but Brahms achieves total mastery of the problems of combining them. The finale is based on the hunting horn call and is a thrilling conclusion to the work. Violeta and Sorin occupy leading positions in the KZNPO while Andrew is head of piano and performance studies at UKZN. He has played with all the SA orchestras since 1982.
