A soprano recital
Cecilia Rangwanasha (soprano), Eugene Joubert (piano)
Cecilia Rangwanasha is the first South African classical singer to win an UNISA International Voice Competition during the 6th UNISA International Voice Competition 2018. She was also the winner of ATKV Muziquanto 2017, runner-up in the UNISA National Singing Competition 2017 and winner of the Phillip H Moore Music Competition 2016. When she grew up, Cecilia was keen to become a lawyer but her mother persuaded her to further her passion for singing.
Now, aged 24, she has more than proved that she is on the right path as an up-and-coming soprano. “I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember,” she says, when we meet to chat about her life and career. Like many professional singers, Cecilia, in her fledgling years, took part in a church choir and she excelled at her studies at university, graduating cum laude. Cecilia is currently a postgraduate diploma student at University of Cape Town under Vocal Tuition of Prof. Virginia Davids.
Cecila will be joined by Eugene Joubert on piano to celebrate the variety of vocal works in the repertoire of the soprano voice.
