Joie de Vivre Trio
André Oosthuizen (flute), Liesl van der Merwe (bassoon), Catrien Mulder-Wentink (piano)
The Joie de Vivre Trio presents a programme of wonderful music. We start of in the Classical period with a delightful piece by the French composer Francois Devienne. His sonata for flute, bassoon and piano consists of two movements – Allegro moderato and Rondeau. The second piece on the programme is the trio in G minor by Carl Maria von Weber. This lovely work of rich romanticism was originally composed for the flute, cello and piano, but the cello part translates beautifully to the bassoon. We end the concert with a bit of fun – a suite from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
