Alas! A word carrying dramatic and emotive power, whether it is being used genuinely, manipulatively or ironically. A versatile word that inspires a recital centred on music that either directly uses this exclamation or evokes its sentiment. Megan Napier (mezzo-soprano) and Annalien Ball have collaborated to perform a programme of art songs and arias. The pieces explore a variety of emotions and experiences and feature beloved works, as well as some lesser-known works. Featured composers include Erik Satie, Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, and Benjamin Britten.
